A Day at the Races

Why not host a day at the Races? You can host your own race day in communal rooms taking it as seriously as you like. Some people may wish to recreate a proper ‘ladies day’ with hats, Bucks Fizz and a full race card. Others may simply use it as a fun activity for people of all ages to join in.
Equipment needed
- Wooden horses – or you could make cardboard horses in craft time
- Hurdles – again these can be made in craft time
- Large dice
- Play money – you could use monopoly money
- Pen
- Paper
Instructions
- Number the horses from one to six.
- Place the horses at the start and then put out 6 to 8 hurdles afterwards.
- Roll the dice and move the horse with the corresponding number on the dice over the first hurdle.
- Allow the players to bet on the horses changing the odds based on the current position on the course.
- The winner is the first horse to jump over the final hurdle.
- If a horse’s number is rolled 3 times in a row this equals a fall and that horse is subsequently removed from the race.
- At the end the player with the most money wins.
